In order to create a dark or unpublished post, the first thing you need to do is download Power Editor into your Facebook Ad Manager. This Chrome app will allow you to target more effectively than a boosted post.
After downloading Power Editor you can access it in your Manage Pages area.
To create a post, simply select the page that you wish to post on and click “Create Post.” Here you can choose the type of post you want to create. If you choose to add a photo to your post, you should upload one that is 1200 x 627 pixels which will show attractively on all devices. Be sure that the text you include is within Facebook’s 20% rule.
There is a great tool that you can plug your post into that will show you if your text and image sizes will work within Facebook’s rules.
Fill in the post with your information. You can choose to fill in your targeting information here which will give you the option to target each post differently or you can choose targeting in your main menu that will target all of your posts the same.
Once you have your post set up, you can view by clicking the “View Post” option at the bottom of the ad.
Make sure that as you use dark posts, you are taking your audience to a website that will require them to give you something in exchange for an incentive. Incentives could be a free service, ebook or some other type of motivation in exchange for an email address or subscribe.
When the post is complete and you are happy with how it looks, you can click create post.
You can also create unpublished ads with Power Editor. Other dark or unpublished posts you can create are photo posts, plain status updates, video posts and offers. Testing your audience with these posts may help you to refine your targeting to reach the optimal amount of audience.
